Water resources are common reasons behind most of the conflicts and wars among human beings. The old wars among the pastoral tribes were over water. As studies have shown that conflicts over water between nations may occur in the near future.
Somalia is suffering from a severe crisis in the water, where the majority of people in the villages and cities do not have access to water. and Somalia is among the African countries most affected by the water in spite of the sing in the stocks of water.
HDC Somalia lays out key cross-cutting issues: gender equality, gender base violence, peace building and reconciliation and female genital mutilations (FGM).Throughout all of its projects, HDC Somalia supports the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment in all development results. HDC Somalia is raising awareness at the institutional and community level to mitigate its impact and support awareness on peace, GBV, gender equality and FGM.

HDC organization implemented huge number of projects on livelihood since its establishment and supported the vulnerable groups to improve food security and cash for work. Provision of skills training to vulnerable women to improve their know-how on business.
The groups identified droughts, floods, extreme high temperatures and strong winds to be the major climate related hazards that they experience. A sectoral approach was taken to understand the vulnerabilities to drought and flood within each sector, while also focusing on the particular impacts to vulnerable groups.
The educational system of Somalia was completely destroyed after the collapse of the Somali central government in 1991, we believe that promoting education is one of the most important means to overcome and fight ignorance and poverty, with this in mind, theOrganization continues to renovate old and abandoned schools, build new schools and operate and manage schools, cultural centers and institutions. Because of our work, tens of thousands of children are able to attend these schools in various regions of Somalia.
